Back to the Future Day!

October 21, 2015 marks the exact day Doc and Marty McFly warped in to Hill Valley in Back to the Future: Part II.

What things do you wish were here now that they 'predicted' would be around in 2015? Hoverboard? Clothes that auto fit? Flying Cars? I'm glad we're not wearing the clothes they thought we would be, that's for sure!

How about some fun Back to the Future themed cakes and parties?!

This awesome cake was made by Cake Nouveau.

Halloween Trick or Treats

For the past few years my brother and I have hosted a Halloween party, which is always so much fun. We get to dress up and be a little bit silly.

More and more people in Australia are embracing Halloween, which I absolutely love!

I'm going to a friend's Halloween Party this year instead of hosting my own, and am busy trying to decide what to dress up like.. I'm thinking at the moment of dressing up like a unicorn.

I love all the Halloween treats that can be made, all the candy that comes out now and how it doesn't have to be a 'scary' night and treats can be both cute and scary!

Here's some of my favourite Halloween Trick or Treats, or Tricky Treats, or just plain Cute Treats that I've seen lately.
  1. These witch hats double as tricks and treats! Hidden with sweets.
  2. The Coolest Pumpkin Cake from Make Fabulous Cakes
  3. Jack Skellington Marshmallow Pops from Crumbs and Corkscrews
  4. Ghost Cupcakes from Chocolate and Carrots
  5. Chocolate and Vanilla Mummy Cakes from Sugar and Charm
  6. Pumpkin Cupcakes that are delicious and topped with a Pumpkin Topper, oh so cute!

Are you in Australia and embracing Halloween this year? Tell us all about it!!

Think Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Monday, 26 October is Pink Ribbon Day.

Chances are someone you know has been diagnosed with breast cancer or affected by breast cancer. One in eight women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime, which when you really sit down to think about it, is quite a scary statistic.

Breast Cancer is in my family. My Nanna had it and one of my Aunties sadly passed away a few years ago. Recently a close friend of mine was diagnosed.

My mum has asked me a number of times if I'd consider having the genetic testing done to see if I inherited the gene, but I'm not sure I would want to know..

Breast Cancer Awareness Month provides us the opportunity to focus on breast cancer and its impact on those affected by the disease. Take the time this month to educate yourself on the facts and be breast aware.

There are many opportunities to help contribute to the fight against breast cancer. Host a pink ribbon event, and you can help towards supporting those who are affected by breast cancer, and eventually helping to eradicate this disease altogether.

If you're planning a pink ribbon event, or a girls night in we've found some delicious treats and ideas to help you fundraise!

  1. Make these easy Pink Ribbon Cupcakes that we made a few years ago.
  2. Cute Pink Ribbon Funfetti Cupcake Jars from Love From The Oven.
  3. Raspberry Cheesecake Brownies from Culinary Couture
  4. Pink Ribbon Sugar Cookies from My Baking Addiction

International Coffee Day

Tomorrow is International Coffee Day!

I love coffee.

I remember when I was alot younger than I am now, I used to make coffees for my dad back on Sunday mornings, and heap many many teaspoons in until I thought it tasted perfect.

Naturally, I progressed to making my own coffee but without quite as many sugars and then espresso martinis!

I once tried to order an iced coffee, and ended up getting an Irish Coffee. I'm not really complaining! Who doesn't want a coffee spiked with whiskey at 10am in the morning.

Coffee goes well with so many things so I thought it would be nice to round up 10 delicious looking treats that included my favourite daily staple - COFFEE!

  1. This almond and coffee cake we made a little while ago.
  2. Mocha Self Saucing Pudding from Taste.com.au
  3. Cream cheese coffee cake from Shugary Sweets.
  4. Chocolate glazed espresso cheesecake from Purewow.
  5. Coffee Meringues with mocha cream from Taste.com.au
  6. Coffeehouse Coffee Cake Muffins from Chocolate Chocolate and More.
  7. Butterscotch Caramel Coffee from Living Locurto.
  8. Oatmeal Coffee Cake from Yummy Healthy Easy.
  9. Coffee Lovers Chocolate Cake Donuts from Baker by Nature.
  10. Vietnamese Coffee Iceypoles from Taste.com.au.

Inspiration Wednesday - Weddings

Two of my best friends just recently got engaged. Needless to say, they are both incredibly excited and I love love love talking about their weddings with them.

With all this wedding talk that we’re going to be having over the next few months (one wedding is in December 2014, one is yet to be confirmed) I thought it might be fun to do a weekly wedding inspiration post. Talk about wedding cakes, cupcakes, trends, colours and all fun things wedding!

I am always completely and utterly mesmerised by the magical wedding cakes, tables and creations I see in my daily blog reading and am in absolute awe of so many talented cake decorators, bakers, decorators, stylists and designers!

Such as this over the top, amazing, gravity defying cake that the Butter End recently made for Kaley Cuoco's wedding. Read all about it here.

Inspiration Wednesday - Cake Decorating With Kids

Today is my niece Kayla's birthday. She's now 8!!! It's crazy how fast they grow up.. I spent the day with her and Joshua (my nephew) on Monday. We had a great day! We went to the park, we went to the shops and we baked cupcakes. They have such great imaginations... They're my inspiration for today.
 Some photos the kids took..

Inspiration Wednesday - Market Stalls

Sweetly Baked will be at MarketGirl this coming weekend. MarketGirl is a boutique handmade market in the northern suburbs here in Perth. If you're up that way this weekend, come and visit us and the other amazing talented stallholders. I had a quick look at the MarketGirl Facebook page and the other stalls are beautiful! I've been looking for more market stall inspiration that will fit with the theme and ambiance of MarketGirl and be as awesome as some other MarketGirl Retailers!

Here's some things I've found..
This adorable drink stand I found over at girl. Inspired. Stef created a Forest Wonderland baby shower for her cousin Michelle.
I love the doilies around this jar. This photo is from the wedding of Emalie and Duncan that was submitted to RocknRoll Bride.
I wish I had a cart for cupcakes!
Urban Farmgirl has a vintage shop, which is only open 2 times a month. I love all the vintage things she finds and re-purposes. I was reading through her blog and every time the shop is open it's completely different to the last time. Amazingly creative and impressive!
This tutu table cloth I also found at girl.Inspired. (To be honest I think I love everything she does) There's even a tutorial!

Oh, and I made these cookies for the promo bags. If you're one of the first 200 visitors to the market on Sunday, you'll be lucky enough to score a free market bag and also a free cookie!!
